"THE FOREIGN LANDS" WOLLONGONG UNIVERSITY [3]: CONCEPT
A few small rough sculptures and drawings accompanied by maps and notes, in my attempt to create a fantasy world, that while it was fun at the time, ultimately failed.
I am almost entirely lacking in imaginative skills, instead, relying upon documentary, as in experience and description, my propensity to make connections between things, as well as internal dialogue and external inspiration with an interest in research, rather than making stuff up. My internal multiple worlds did make an appearance, namely a forest and a beach. My internal worlds, however, are very basic, something created by my unconscious that happened instinctively and out of necessity, rather than any conscious desire to create, kind of like psychic holding bays, rather than constructed fantasy worlds. Later during the 'Faery Wood' work in progress + studio space, there was certainly a desire to construct worlds and to make physical environments in which to live, to make the internal experiences into an external reality. It was in this darkening environment, that I ended up being physically assaulted by a demonic spirit and where Jesus Christ first made contact and where his holy angels were sent to 'collect' me.
