CORAL HULL: FAERY WOOD
"Our Perfect World"

I had promised to be your sole protector
But I could not make us the perfect world.
I mopped up the juices of your wounds
I held your convulsions like butterflies
You were the first to return to your kind.
You will go now, go into the faery wood
You will tread where humans fear to tread.
For half my lifetime, you shone like god.
You taught me how to receive your love.
And when death came, you still did shine.
You would not leave until I had returned.
It was a miracle, that you lasted the night.
You brought your time into dawn's light,
Then my calming hand was upon your side
And your soft blue forehead and your legs.
But you were fading and your breathing,
I came back and I loved you even more,
A bridge of angels held strong between us.
We both knew this was the end our time,
Where our eyes had hardly left the other.
The world was killing your body fast
And it wedged and prised us both apart.
It took our "perfect world" and broke it
upon the stars of all the years and days.
But I held you and we did not falter.
I now swim forever in your perfect gaze.
Our perfect world has ended as this love.
