Before the Beginning: The Galactic Halo
Angel/10
You were at my conception.
My birth through your palms.
Your eyes were a lake.
I plunged into the world.
Your breath that I came from,
For I am only half human.
Your kindness came closer.
Your wings graced my shoulder.
Your deep neck bowed down,
You drank from a pond.
Your herd they were graceful.
They wandered on the edge
Of all that was known.
You wept once. I heard you.
You slept with the lions.
Your sweat was sweet nectar.
Your iris a blossom.
Your mind a nebula.
Your student an astronomer.
Your biographer a botanist.
You spoke to the dragonfly.
You lifted the green ant
From a pinprick of water.
There was no breakage.
You received by giving.
You are the one laughter
In the pain of the world.
You are a lotus flower as wide as a star.
I am the sleeper at the base of the tree.
When I thought I have slept I awoke briefly,
To the perfect embrace a cloudless morning.
What I thought was an alien was within me.
I had swallowed the stars in my unending. |
