We came upon your shocked pale gaze,
all the oceans parted, time stood still.
Celeste, what brings you to our shores?
to the borders of an uncivilised world?
Was it the lights from the wharves?
Warm laughter of nights in the taverns?
Did the psyche of humanity attract you,
Why must we meet this way in secret?
Why must the beach be so lonely,
upon the edges of all the worlds?
Why must we now be perpetually
locked into these cyclical orbits?
When does a starfish sail into the sky
and when did the stars drop into sea?
What great distances we have come,
with so many questions between us?
Sand imprints and fiery firmaments,
galaxies as the maps that will guide us.
You are the oceans that will hide this,
as we spiral away into timelessness.
