IT MAY BE THAT HE COMES
"Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame."

It may be that he comes ...
In the early dawn, when our belts of truth,
are fitted firm and strong, a gift from One
whom so loved this world, that He sent
His only begotten Son, the Living Word.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
It may be that he comes ...
In the morning, when our breastplates
of righteousness, are clean mirrors shining,
a reflection of Him, who is sheltering us,
beneath His enduring and unfailing love.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
It may be that he comes ...
At midday, when our swords of His Spirit,
are drawn, like long battle cries, filling valleys
of deception, turning a river of sorrows into
holy verse, flowing within us, water of life.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
It may be that he comes ...
In the afternoon, when our shields of faith
are protecting us, from those fiery darts
of the evil one, taking so many captives,
to his dreaded, anticipated, final defeat.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
It may be that he comes ...
In the evening, when our slowing footsteps,
are carried forward, by the gospel of peace,
softening our travailing, our war weary march,
along the road, towards His glorious kingdom.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
It may be that he comes ...
At midnight, when our helmets of salvation,
in the still stony watch, are oil lamps alight,
with the peaceful unwavering spirit of hope,
ever willing to proclaim, His eternal goodness.
Even so, come Lord Jesus.
