The day that I chose to cease contact with him, a row of streetlights turned on outside the bedsit. I then drove to the Nightcliff Woolworths and when I got back a second row came on creating an L shape. I had known that this was going to happen while I was away. I then picked Karen up to run a few errands and a third row of streetlights came on along Casuarina Drive. I knew that all the streetlights surrounding the Poinciana Street units would come on. I said to Karen, "The last row of streetlights are going to come on. They said that they are, building me a 'nest of protection'. On the way home and as predicted, the last set of lights came on in the next street, thereby creating a barrier or 'nest' of light and giving the effect of boxing the units inside its imagined borders. In my excitement I drove around the streets showing Karen. "See, I told you they were doing it!" Her eyes widened at each turn. "Don't tell Clayton," she mumbled. "He won't like it."

Around this time Raymond from The Australian Parapsychological Institute rang and told me that he was getting 'high' from my reports of the 'phenomena'. He had still not provided any relevant information on my situation that I didn't already know. After talking to someone who knew of him, I discovered that he was not who I had thought he was. I then emailed Raymond to say that he was not a professional psychologist and nor should he be advertised as such on The Australian Institute of Parapsychological Research website.

I did not want him calling me again. When I rang the Director regarding this situation, he said that Raymond was free to do as he pleased and told me that it was my 'bad luck' for not asking what his qualifications were, and that Raymond was just an old friend of his. I eventually made a written complaint to the Psychologists Registration Board of NSW for the continuing misrepresentation of these people as qualified psychologists and psychiatrists, only to find out that the AIPR had eventually done the right thing, at least in a legal sense, by offering more details about the people involved in the organisation on their website.

What I was to learn throughout my experiences was that often the people who claimed to be experts in an area were not, and that genuine support could come from the most unexpected places. I was still looking for answers online. One day I stumbled across The Canberra Spiritualist Association in the ACT. I happened to ring them and ended up speaking to a woman called Joan. She was a medium and seemed to intuitively understand what I was going through. She told me a story about the time a rose had materialised for her from the world of spirit. I liked the term 'spirit' and while I knew that it was more an 'angelic' or 'extraterrestrial' consciousness I was dealing with, I had also experienced these fragments of foreign consciousness, which might be considered as having contact with the 'spirit world'. My conversation with Joan opened my eyes to more possibilites. She had also treated me with respect.

When I rang Joan I was concerned about the bad things that seemed to happen to people who did bad things to me. There were numerous examples of this and I was becoming increasingly upset that I might be somehow responsible. A business that was involved in animal abuse who had attempted to sue me for speaking the truth about what they were doing burnt down, after I moved to their neighbourhood. After Allora Gardens Nursery had stolen fifteen hundred dollars that was paid to them for a coin fountain for children, which they refused to deliver, they then had ten thousand dollars worth of merchandise stolen from them at around the same time. An electrician who had attempted to rip me off in regard to an air conditioner being installed was unable to respond to my complaint, since he had been involved in a serious car accident.

A particularly nasty pool fence inspector had ended up in emergency the night before she was meant to come over to Ridgehaven Circuit, after I hadn't wanted her there. In addition to this two other people who had swindled me out of a significant amount of money had then lost exactly the same amount. A business who had ripped off my company went broke. An organisation who misled my company into making a donation to something that didn't exist closed down. People behaving in this manner were everywhere. As the list became longer I didn't know what to do. Was this all coincidence?

Then there was the time when a young staff member at Flight Centre in Darwin 'made a mistake' and lost my seat by giving me the incorrect date. I was attempting to resolve the matter with Qantas in Hobart after Flight Centre had attempted to pass the responsibility onto the airline. It took less than five minutes for the woman at Qantas to tell me her computer had gone down. I then asked, "Are any of the other computers down?"

She said, "No, it's strange. It's only my computer."

"Well," I added, "They will be."

Less than a minute later she said, "You're right. All the other computers have just gone down."
